Sometimes we need to “pause”… self reflect, life reflect, love reflect. Ahhhh, that “pause”. You know the one, the pause. The little breath between the breaths where you actually can feel yourself breathe. … No doubt we are living in a fast pace… go forward … no… “RUN!” forward world.
One thing Esthetics has taught me, slow down. Ok, maybe life lessons has taught me this too. But we need to slow it down… savor the sweet little moments… where you catch your breath. Stop… right where you are and take a moment. Go ahead and do it. 3 deep breaths in the nose… 3 deep breaths out… gratitude… life… breathe… just be.
So what does this have to do with esthetics? Nothing and Everything. My moto here at Flow Esthetics is “Pampering YOU for Body, Mind, and Soul”. Some of these moments are the moments in between the Breaths. Maybe you need a little pampering because your soul needs some tender loving care. Maybe you just wanna feel pretty and alive… giving back to yourself after giving so much of you away. A gentle facial, or a soothing away the stresses massage … pretty painted nails and soaks for feet that have carried the world.
It may be a small loving gesture of self care but it’s important and it counts! I love doing this for you too! I love giving… pouring over a full cup and sharing my favourite pause… “self giving moment”.
Facials… let me take a brief moment to talk about a powerful product line that I represent – “Dermalogica”. From my expertise and 10 years experience as a skin therapist, I have witnessed amazing results with my clients. Clients that came to me with rosacea, acne, aging skin, hyper pigmentation and scarring, etc.
Dermalogica is well known for face mapping. A detailed mapping of your skin focusing on what your skin needs. The facial is customized for the client – giving you amazing results! I will guide you with knowledge of your skin, the products you should use, and a beautiful at home skin regime that actually works. None of us want to invest in products that do nothing for our skin.
I have to admit… the results to me are the bonus. My facials are pure heaven. So relaxing and pampering… in a setting of heated sheets, candlelight, sound of a water fall and a hint of spa music. You will be pampered with not only a facial but a scalp, neck, hand, and arm massage…
Ok, I have to stop here and share a facial I will never forget from a client that will never be forgotten….
One of my beautiful spirited clients was regularly treating her friend to getting her nails done. This time she decided to treat her friend to a facial. I was nervous about this. The reason being she was living in a nursing home and she had dementia. Recently widowed, no children, strong Polish woman who worked the farms all her life, my concern was she may not remember why she was at Flow Esthetics. I did not want her to feel uncomfortable because she was going to have to get semi-undressed in a setting she wasn’t accustomed to. Linda was 86 years young and this would be her first and last facial.
As I helped her up on the bed and tucked her in, I tried explaining to her what her special treatment was. She looked at me a little dismayed but curious. I told her at anytime if she didn’t like the service, to just let me know.
As I went about my business, gently massaging her face, I noticed a tear (oh… my heart!). “Are you ok sweetie?” I asked. I didn’t know what she was thinking. “If you don’t like the facial, we can paint your nails instead?” A service she was familiar with! She slowly reached up for my hand with her small frail fingers and held mine for a moment and said. “Please, don’t stop touching my face. No one has ever touched my face like that.” Tears were about to flow from her face. I had no words. I just went about my work between tears and gratitude. Trying to pour out of myself into this precious woman who needed gentle loving self care.
I am SO grateful I could give her (and myself) this moment… this breath. A moment of self love. A moment of human touch. A moment of gratitude. Linda passed a few weeks later. It was than that I realized… Pause… Breathe… Be Grateful… I wanted to share more about my facials… in another post. Right now, I need a kleenex.
Human touch is a pause we cannot live without.
